Hi Points

HI Point Award Calculation

At QHAA circuits like Wild Rose and The Canadian National Quarter Horse Show, recognition is given to Hi Point Winners.  Winning is based on points earned with 9 points being the maximum for winning a class.  This is because 9 placing is what is on a judges card for any class up to 34 entries.

For example, if there are 15 horses in a class, 1st place would get 9 points, 2nd place 8 points, all the way down to 9th place getting 1 point. If there were only 6 in the class, 1st place would get 6 points, 2nd place 5 points, down to 6th place getting 1 point.

An exhibitor and/or horse must participate in a minimum number of shows in the current year to be eligible for year end awards.  Open and Amateur divisions must participate in a minimum of 60% of the shows based on the number of judges shown under.  Youth division must participate in a minimum of 60% of the shows based on the number of judges shown under.

For classes offered at a reduced number of circuits, QHAA members must show in 60% (Open and Amateur), 60% (Youth) of the classes offered to qualify for Year End Awards.

All classes are eligible for year end awards except for classes offered at only 1 circuit throughout the year, these classes will not be eligible for a year end award.

Select Division: 1. Amateur Select members must choose which division they wish to have points calculated in for the year prior to the start of show season or at the time of membership received. 2. If an Amateur Select member is in an amateur class (entered or blended), points will automatically count towards the Select Division and points from their placing will only go toward Select Division calculations.
